Patience In The Pursuit Of Your Dreams

There is something good in all seeming failures. You are not to see that now. Time will reveal it. Be patient. Swami Sivananda

The Jamaican proverb “A patient man rides the donkey” extols the virtue of patience. After-all, if you know the obstinacy of a donkey; anyone who can ride one and get to their destination; truly embodies patience. This proverb reminds us of the patience we need in the pursuit of our dreams. The journey may be filled with obstacles; unforeseen delays and unexpected twists and turns. Yet still, we need to remain patient; for there is value in the journey and not just the reward.

Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting. – Unknown

We live in a time when the microwave mentality is rather dominant and instant gratification is the order of the day. This mentality breeds a sense of entitlement and an expectation that we will get what we want when we want it. This mindset is sure to bring frustration and vexation. It doesn’t help that the highlight reel of people’s lives shows luxury and abundance meanwhile you are over here struggling.

If you’re losing patience for your dream, you’re probably chasing the dream by yourself. – Brendon Burchard

With social media; we see many displays of success; which seemingly appear to have happened overnight. When the reality is these successes were decades in the making. In pursuing our dreams; we must remember to focus on our own journey. Do not allow comparison to steal your joy and peace of mind. When you see other people being successful use it as motivation to continue; for one day your glow up will happen! After nuhbaddi no more dan u!

Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome. – Arthur Ashe

Use this month to commit to being disciplined; focused and intentional. Take an honest and hard look at your thinking and your habits to determine what is preventing you from achieving your goals and dreams. Examine your mindset and your self talk. What do you think about? Are you really thinking or are you only engaged in mental activity? How is your self talk? Are you kind and affirming or do you tear yourself down? Are you really taking steps towards your goals or moving away from them? Periods of quiet reflection will yield the answers you seek.

When you have a dream that you can’t let go of, trust your instincts and pursue it. But remember: Real dreams take work, they take patience and sometimes they require you to dig down very deep. Be sure you’re willing to do that. – Harvey Mackay

It is my hope that as you embrace the Summer, the rest of the year and all it brings; you will be open to the idea that patience is needed in the pursuit of your dreams. You will commit to being the person who is willing to do what is necessary to see your goals realized! Happy dreaming and remember there are two sides to every coin just flip it to get the full view!
